New Sarah Palin Biography Lie: Updated September 5, 2008
Sarah Palin Compulsive falsehoods get even stranger. She did NOT SELL her jet online
Sarah Palin started her professional career as a newscaster:
Yesterday was John McCain’s 72nd birthday. If elected, he’d be the oldest president ever inaugurated. And after months of slamming Barack Obama for “inexperience,” here’s who John McCain has chosen to be one heartbeat away from the presidency: a right-wing religious conservative with no foreign policy experience, who until recently was mayor of a town of 9,000 people.
Huh?
Who is Sarah Palin? Here’s some basic background:
- She was elected Alaska’s governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.1
- Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2
- She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. 3
- Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4
- She’s doesn’t think humans are the cause of climate change.5
- She’s solidly in line with John McCain’s “Big Oil first” energy policy. She’s pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won’t be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.6
- How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.7
This is information the American people need to see. Please take a moment to forward this email to your friends and family.
We also asked Alaska MoveOn members what the rest of us should know about their governor. The response was striking. Here’s a sample:
She is really just a mayor from a small town outside Anchorage who has been a governor for only 1.5 years, and has ZERO national and international experience. I shudder to think that she could be the person taking that 3AM call on the White House hotline, and the one who could potentially be charged with leading the US in the volatile international scene that exists today. —Rose M., Fairbanks, AK
She is VERY, VERY conservative, and far from perfect. She’s a hunter and fisherwoman, but votes against the environment again and again. She ran on ethics reform, but is currently under investigation for several charges involving hiring and firing of state officials. She has NO experience beyond Alaska. —Christine B., Denali Park, AK
As an Alaskan and a feminist, I am beyond words at this announcement. Palin is not a feminist, and she is not the reformer she claims to be. —Karen L., Anchorage, AK
Alaskans, collectively, are just as stunned as the rest of the nation. She is doing well running our State, but is totally inexperienced on the national level, and very much unequipped to run the nation, if it came to that. She is as far right as one can get, which has already been communicated on the news. In our office of thirty employees (dems, republicans, and nonpartisans), not one person feels she is ready for the V.P. position.—Sherry C., Anchorage, AK
She’s vehemently anti-choice and doesn’t care about protecting our natural resources, even though she has worked as a fisherman. McCain chose her to pick up the Hillary voters, but Palin is no Hillary. —Marina L., Juneau, AK
I think she’s far too inexperienced to be in this position. I’m all for a woman in the White House, but not one who hasn’t done anything to deserve it. There are far many other women who have worked their way up and have much more experience that would have been better choices. This is a patronizing decision on John McCain’s part- and insulting to females everywhere that he would assume he’ll get our vote by putting “A Woman” in that position.—Jennifer M., Anchorage, AK
So Governor Palin is a staunch anti-choice religious conservative. She’s a global warming denier who shares John McCain’s commitment to Big Oil. And she’s dramatically inexperienced.
In picking Sarah Palin, John McCain has made the religious right very happy. And he’s made a very dangerous decision for our country.
In the next few days, many Americans will be wondering what McCain’s vice-presidential choice means. Please pass this information along to your friends and family.
Thanks for all you do.

This is a blog about the hogwash that enters lives on a daily, hourly, second by second basis. For instance, as most of us have seen over the last eight years or so, every sound that pours out of George W. Bush’s mouth is hogwash. No, this is not another “bash W. blog.” I just could not think of a better example of metaphorical hogwash. So, be prepared. Whether it is religion, politics, sports, technology, or your mother’s dirty laundry, it’s all Hogwash.

I shudder to think that the community organizer would be answering the phone at 3 am. If Sarah Palin had only manages a store 24 she would be more qualified than the Dark Lord from Chicago Barak Obama
According to David Frum, George W. Bush’s former speech-writer, Sarah Palin makes Barack Obama look like George C. Marshall.
http://www.answers.com/topic/george-c-marshall?method=26&initiator=CANS
Sarah Palin has run a business, a city, and now, a state. Barack Hussein Obama has run nothing but his mouth. She has stood up on numerous occasions to corrupt politicians, including those in her own party. He couldn’t even stand up to the nutcase pastor of his church until it became politically expedient for him to do so.
This man has no experience that qualifies him to even run a fastfood joint, let alone the greatest country in the world.
Wake up, America. You can’t negotiate with people who simply want you dead. We need someone with cajones to man (or woman) the football ina crisis.
You have to be at least a little intellectually curious to be a good President. It also helps not to be a racist prick. But maybe that will be a measure of who is still racist in this country. Of course, I am making the assumption that everyone who stresses Obama’s middle name is trying to appeal to the Satan in people’s souls. The racist, ignorant side, if you will.
First off, running a state does not make you anymore qualified for the job of the presidency as proven by George Bush with his previous terms in Texas.
Second, I’m sure its a coincidence that this so called ethics reformer who stands up to corruption is accused of using her power as governer for personal gain. That is the kind of person we want. We rather get upset at others for not playing the politics game by not defending but still not disowning the ones they love despite the political backlash.
Third, finding a new approach to dealing with foreign policy, not foreign punishment, and moving away from the “nuke ‘em all” rhetoric may not be a bad idea.
Let me get this clear. Sarah Palin has some executive experience. She believes that the unborn should not be killed. She supports the second amendment. She acknowledges that humans are more important than polar bears. She can hunt, fish, cook and bring home the bacon. She is family oriented. She believes that schools should teach, not indoctrinate in just one view. She fights government corruption. WOW!!! Where has she been all this time.
Yes. I know. Her about about 150 million other people are now just as qualified. Crazy isn’t it?
However, saying that she has “executive experience” is the same as Michael Jordan calling himself a professional baseball player.
The democrat that thinks he wants to be president just wants to solve all our problems with higher taxes. Sorry, but I want him to leave what little I make alone! I know people from that state she has governed and they have nothing but good to say about her. She has more experience running government then any of the other canidates have. I realize that saying anything here is pointless because it’s just a bashing site for anything other then a democratic narrow minded view!
His economic plan includes tax cuts for 95% of Americans. Are democrats narrow-minded, or are you just ignorant?
MOVEON.org tells me enough!!!!
So, it makes no difference to you, Pat, whether anything that is said is true or not? All you care about is who said it? Sounds like the regressive Republican Party to me.
McCain is playing PURE politics with this choice! And his BIG concern for those on the Gulf Coast - well here’s his true record of concerning (Katrina victims).
McCain voted against passage of the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations of 2006. It would provide more than $28 billion for hurricane relief, approximately $2.3 billion for pandemic flu preparations and $1.9 billion for border security efforts. [2006 Senate Vote #112, 5/4/2006]
McCain voted against an amendment to provide emergency health care and other relief for survivors of Hurricane Katrina. The amendment would grant access to Medicaid to Hurricane Katrina victims for up to five months; it also provided full federal funding for Medicaid in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama for up to one year; provided $800 million to compensate providers caring for Katrina evacuees; it temporarily suspended the Medicare Part B late enrollment penalty; and permitted states hit by Katrina or serving evacuees to access the TANF (Temporary Aid to Needy Families) Contingency Fund. It would be offset with funds unspent by FEMA. [2005 Senate Vote #285, 11/3/2005]
McCain voted twice against establishing a Congressional commission to examine Federal, State, and local response to devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina in the U.S. Gulf Region; and making immediate corrective measures to improve future responses. [2006 Senate Vote #6, 2/2/2006; 2005 Senate Vote #229, 9/14/2005]
In 2005, McCain voted against allowing up to 52 weeks of unemployment benefits to individuals affected by Hurricane Katrina. [2005 Senate Vote #234, 9/15/2005]
The party of “morals and values” speaks loudly when they bring on someone who is as hypocritical about these, as is Bush, et al. When you profess family values, (like for instance, abstinence, in Palin’s case) and your family is like most every other family in America, it shows that you are not better than me because you “believe” in something/someone, but less in touch with the reality of the world. How can you say that this is how things should be, and then have children who don’t apply the same values? Not that my children wouldn’t do the same thing; oh, far from it. But I’m not on a national soapbox, shouting the loudest about how everyone does it wrong except me. It’s fine that you have a “typical American family” but don’t try shoving your views down my throat when you can’t show me “how it’s done”. Do as I say, not as I do, doesn’t fly in any arena, especially in the political realm, any more than the corruption that she claims to have sought out and eliminated. Don’t tell me one thing, then do something completely opposite. Maybe the rest of the (Right) country isn’t listening, but I am and I want something different than what they (the Right) want to put out there. Someone coined the phrase appropriately and, as a registered, moderate, fiscally conservative Republican, I must echo the same sentiment: ENOUGH!
Well said Kevin
I have heard about Palin’s executive experience, prowess with a gun in the woods and the lakeside fishing, but what is her educational background???
McCain barely graduated from Annapolis and was fourth or fifth from the bottom of his class. He caroused in public, got drunk and visited all the strip joints in and around Annapolis instead of studying….They passed him through because of his father’s and grandfather’s legacy. He didn’t earn his way.
Bush has been both a Governor and the President with a very low grade point average and you see where we are??..the lowest point in history. McCain’s GPA was lower than his. Wake up America!! Yeah, they can lead but lead where. Where are we going with this kind of leadership!! We can do better.
Does Mrs. Palin have a college degree or more? When hiring for jobs,I evaluate both for education and experience. I would not have hired Bush or McCain for any job in my company.
Sarah Palin has a bachelor in communications degree from Idaho.
In comparison, Not only does Biden have 20+ years of experience, he has two masters degrees and a J.D. in Law from Syracuse.
All the reasons cited above makes me more excited about voting for her. If the liberals were saying she was a good choice, I would be worried. Yes I am a right wing evangelical, card carrying Republican. Of course I am from Texas and we are all undeducated hicks down here. ( I have three degrees past high school) The feminists hatred of her show how hypocritical they are.
It’s about time that we as a country have a woman on the national political scene who stands up for Christian values and morality. It will never cease to amaze me that the THEORY of evolution is pounded into our kids’ heads, but the very mention of an intelligent design sends liberals into a frenzy.
Of course humans are not to blame for the climate change. The whole global warming thing is a joke. How do you explain that Mars over the last 100 years also has shown that it has gotten warmer. Last I knew there was no humans there. Secondly there are trees in California that give off more carbon than any human will ever produce in a liftime. Third we are in a 10 year period of global cooling.
The idea of teaching Intelligent design is the same as teaching that the holocaust didn’t happen or that man didn’t really land on the moon. There are some people out there that believe the Earth is really turned inside out and that the sun is in the center of the Earth. It is a great story and all, but it is not science.
PBS had a great special on the Intelligent design theory and it’s fault, but you have to be objective (scientific term) to appreciate it.
The United States is falling behind the rest of the world in science and this is precisely why. We spend too much time debating theology instead of science.
Evolution is a scientific theory, which is much different than a random theory. It is based on provable evidence. Any evidence provided in favor of the theology of Intelligent design has been thoroughly debunked.
Get with the program people!
It is great to have someone stand up for Christian “values.” However, legislating them just because they are is unconstitutional.
Here is the NOVA PBS special on Intelligent Design and the Dover Pennsylvania trial.

Remember, how strong really is your faith if you can’t handle challenging it?
Sarah Palin has more experience in her pinkie than Barack has in his entire body.
He has never been a Mayor, never been a Governor, never been in charge of anything.! He was a community organizer who doesn’t’ know that yes or no means yes or no not present!!!
Sarah Palin and John McCain together have done more than Joe and Barack. He talks a good speech that was written for hiM.
WAKE UP AMERICA!!! McCain is the best candidate, the only qualified candidate running for President. Barack should run for Mayor first and then move up to the big leagues. The United States Presidency isn’t a learn as you go and oops! I didn’t know that job. It’s too important!!!!
C W Dunn,
That is not true and is part of the pattern of falsehoods propogated by The McCain campaign. That is not according to Hogwash. That is according to Factcheck.org.
The Obama plan will result in tax cuts for 95% of the population. (As a side note, 95% is also how often McCain voted with Bush.)
Nice hyperbole C W Dunn, but it didn’t why your point was wrong. And I have news for you, in America, people ARE the government. You can not delineate between the two in a democracy. The government is what the people want it to be.
While it is true that Obama will cut taxes for 95% of the population he will also raise the capital gains tax on companies which by the way will cause companies to raise prices on goods to offset the capital gains tax. NoBama can dress it up however he wants but it is still going to hit the middleclass in the pocket book.
Sarah is more qualified then Barack HUSSEIN Obama. He has a paper thin resume and can’t speak unless he has a tele prompter in front of him constantly uttering UMM, Umm–how annoying is that? It’s like Hillary’s laugh when she’s trying to think of another lie to say
What are Barack’s family values? Letting his kids listen to Jeremiah Wright spew his filthy garbage mouth–WOW—”just words”—what values
His WHITE family raised him and yet he writes a book about a deadbeat dad who he hardly knew–WOW–”just words”–WOW
He seems to forget he is bi-racial only campaigning “he’ll be the first black president” In my opinion it’s more like Muslim president. Does he have issues because he has white running through his veins?
He goes from being a Muslim to Jeremiah Wright and the company he had over the years are anti Americans
I certainly won’t vote for him or anyone who can’t even acknowledge who they are.(Unless they are ashamed or hiding somethng)
God forbid we mention his middle name–HUSSEIN–we are then called a racist
My vote goes to McCain/Palin
She didn’t say she sold the plane on ebay, she said she placed it on ebay to try and sell. Ultimately she did sell somewhere else. Of course you ignore the point of the story. As for feminists, wow! Support women’s rights but only as long as it is liberal women?? How’s that work?? Do feminists only support and celebrate successful liberal/democrat women?? The oil question; she has done a great amount of work towards running a natural gas pipline, unlike the 2 previous Alaska administrations. A mom, a wife, a successful woman and now possibly VP, ya gotta love America.
I am so sorely reminded of how George Bush made all sorts of promises and played the regular guy; the one with who you’d drink a beer. Once he became president he let the right-wingers decide his and our fate. I don’t trust J. McCain any more than I trusted G. Bush. J. McCain and his VP Palin say they are these big mavericks, but when push comes to shove, they’ll remember what side they’re on. At least, if B. Obama makes a promise and breaks his word the outcome won’t be a repeat of the last 8 years. And I don’t believe for one minute that a President McCain will be inclusive of all parties. The conservative, right-wing republicans won’t let him.
1 The media only references Obama as the first black president, he is not all black he is mixed, black, white with a muslim upbringing.
2 He has no experience at a budget or even running a houshold, his wife does like most of the married couples in America.
3 The stupidity of people when they state that McCain voted with Bush 95% of the time. I Learned that it goes from the house, to the senate, where McCain voted and Obama was present with no opinion, then to the President. Maybe the President was following McCains vote. He couldn’t follow Obamas lead because he doesn’t.
4 How bad could Bush be, since he was in office we have not had a terroist attack in the US of US soil in other countries. THe insurgence that he put in place was voted yes by McCain and present by Obama. The after thought from Obama was that it was the right thing to do and it worked. So we need a Monday Night quarterback at the wheel. We already have that it is MSNBC.
5 Lets say Obama Nation three times fast, you will see the light
I am glad to see that this blog is not a total democrat blog.
Brian,
He does not have a Muslim upbringing. Commentary is fine, but slander, libel, and lies are not…that’s a bunch of Hogwash!
NO, not true, his father was a muslim and he was registered muslim through grade school, look it up.
Brian,
How about you look it up and post your evidence here and we can look at your sources. That has been discredited long ago. I bet you have a problem with his Christian pastor too. You can’t have it both ways Brian.
Every major credible source has debunked your lie, including very conservative sources.
Karl
Brian,
Let’s start here…
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/obama.asp
I have to go on an appointment, and when I get back, I will check back in on the depth of your ignorance.
Karl
“Commentary is fine, but slander, libel, and lies are not”
I see you can’t play by the rules you wrote. Make it personal and it could get ugly dumb-a$$
Now, I Thank you for the address and yes, I will admit I had bad information on that one. I will go and look at where it was that i got it from and give it to you. I do have to say though in looking I did find his his father was a practicing Muslim but was only around for the first couple of years of Obamas life. Became an atheist on so on. http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_barack_obama_muslim.htm
I am against anyone that is anti-American.
Last, I don’t have an appointment I have a job, later!
Wow, is this blog ever hogwash. All of your supporting references are to the most liberal minded organization out there. Moveon.org being the most left wing liberal of them all. She supports creationism be taught along side of the “Theory of Evolution” which even Darwin himself said was not feasible later on in life (bet you didn’t know that did ya).
Palin stands for something, as oppose to most of the liberal idiots who agree with this, who stand for nothing except anarchy. No morals, no restrictions, the confused notion that we have total freedom.
Palin is pro-life, abortion for what ever reason is the killing of a human life!! No argument can be made against this!! But you leftwingers try to pretty it up and call it pro-choice, a convenient way of saying oops I got preggo cause I forgot to take my pill.
O and lest I forget, the 2007/2008 winter was one of the coldest winters in over 20 years, Baghdad had snow fall for the first time in recorded history, this year (2008/2009) is predicted to be a very cold winter. The polar bear is not only not endangered but has actually increased in population (it’s just wacko environmentalists lobbying in washington) and the Arctic did not experience the meltdowns forecast by NSIDC and the Norwegian Polar Year Secretariat. It didn’t even come close. Additionally, some current graphs and press releases from NSIDC seem less than conservative. There appears to be a consistent pattern of overstatement related to Arctic ice loss.
Ok. So, Jay Leno did not say that…and it is part of the over-simplistic crap that plays to mans more animal nature.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/hitnail.asp
So, I don’t feel like getting in to a long philosophical debate on a Saturday morning, but I will just say that when Joe Biden came to town the other day, all 1000 people in the crowd stood and prayed to God and said the Pledge of Allegiance that included his name.
And…there is a little truth in what that email says, we should look at and consider what makes us happy as a society, but that is a personal thing. Of course, what seems to keep Republicans happy over the last eight years is living in fear…giving up freedoms and liberty, for a little safety. Giving in to the lies of government because they want to believe in the cause.
They also seem to be really happy about fiat money and wealth…what was it that the bible said about wealth? Oh ya, “A rich man has a greater chance of getting a camel through the eye of a needle than getting in to heaven.”
But, you know, the religious right just ignores anything inconvenient.
Sarah Palin must have received genetic counseling of some sort to have a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome. The only definitive prenatal test to determine such chromosome anomaly is via amniocentesis. With such a test comes a risk for a miscarriage.
After she received the results, she was able to make a reproductive choice to continue the pregnancy.
If she is the extreme pro-life activists that she claims to be in interviews, then why would she risk losing her fetus during the pregnancy? The fetus didn’t consent to the amniocentesis procedure?
Also, such test results gave Sarah Palin options and she was able to make her own choices.
If she was able to choose, then every female in America has the right to choose what to do with her body, including her uterus.
Good point Sarah.
“But, you know, the religious right just ignores anything inconvenient”
I think you can safely say that about both parties…let’s not be so narrow-minded that we believe either party is perfect, or that the candidates from either party are perfect.
I’m a registered republican but I don’t agree 100% with every word that comes out of McCain’s or Palin’s mouth. I respect both candidates just as I can respect Obama and Biden. On the issues that are most important to me, however, I line up more with McCain/Palin. Doesn’t mean I have a personal vendetta against “the other party”.
What gets me most angry is when you use the phrase “religious right” as if it should be some sort of an insult. Believing in something, whether it is God, or our great country, is not something to look down on. If you choose not to believe in such a faith, well…that is certainly your choice and have every right…but it is pretty bold to condemn others.
Ashley,
That’s not true. I have no problem with believing in something. I do have a problem though with people who think it is ok to legislate religious issues.
OK-Just didn’t sound like that was what you were implying by that statement.
I can’t stand it when either party picks at every little thing about their opponents…Who cares whether Obama went to church 20 times or 40 times each year or whether Palin’s daughter ever drank a beer under age. We should be looking at the big picture and voting on isues…every person in this country who votes should study the issues-based on fact-not based on “left leaning” or “right leaning” blogs, editorials, etc. The media has WAY too much control.
By bashing back and forth at each other as if “your-side” is without fault-we ARE ALL “ignoring anything inconvenient”
I see your point, but I think we are not giving the media enough credit. I agree with the media problem in one sense, and that is that all the main stream media is ultimately concerned with in the long run is its bottom line. This is only a major problem with media consolidation. Before media was so consolidated, different media outlets would compete ruthlessly for the truth. If a paper had a history of not telling the truth, people wouldn’t buy it and that would be the end of it, because there were plenty of alternatives.
Now, there are not very many alternatives. All a media company is interested in is selling advertising and promoting their other businesses. Ultimately, the big wigs are only concerned that they are telling just enough of the truth on both sides, without any real depth for either side, so that way they don’t have to worry about pissing off anyone other than the extremes of both sides so bad that they won’t come back in the future.
But, the emergence of some blogs, many of whom do have a particular level of credibility, have forced some of these mass media outlets into doing their homework a little better.
Mass media does not like to be out-scooped, especially by pesky little computer dorks.
In the end, the media, love them or leave them, are essential to the long term success of our democracy. In history class we always learn about how we have a system of three checks and balances…the legislative, the judicial, and the executive.
What they always leave out in the lesson, is the fourth check and balance…the press. The press is the only industry specifically protected by the constitution.
That is for a reason. Whether it has a liberal or conservative bias, the press has the protected right to report as it pleases. If the press as a whole reports falsehoods, they will lose credibility, and that is just not good for business. Bias comes from the very idea to decide to cover a story or not, but what matters is if the story is the truth, or The Maverick Truth, or a flat out lie.
For instance, if a particular media outlet thought John McCain was a reincarnation of Herbert Hoover, they would find all kind of examples of parallels between John McCain and Herbert Hoover to prove their point. The parallels would most likely be true, but it was liberal bias to decide to cover the story to begin with. If Fox News wanted to put it in peoples minds that Obama was a Muslim, even if it wasn’t true, they would lead the story with, “Is Obama a muslim? Some say that he is…” Well, is it true that Obama is a Muslim, absolutely not, but is it true that some people say that he is? Sure. Mostly people on Fox News about two years ago, but true none-the-less. That is conservative bias.
The press plays an important role, and we should not be so quick to demean them. I think in the long run, the media as a whole gets the big stories right. It is like one big case of “Crowd Wisdom.” It’s just on a day to day basis that individual writers and media outlets are trying to get your individual, undivided attention.
Have faith in the press. Have faith in our Constitution.
I like the way she thinks she sound perfect finaly someone with some commonsense and havent been bought off by the federal goverment and hpofuly never will.
His economic plan includes tax cuts for 95% of Americans. Are democrats narrow-minded, or are you just ignorant?
I keep reading that same line of bs, and have to ask, how will he cut taxes for 95% of Americans, to do that, you would have to have 100% of Americans actually paying taxes, when in fact, only 40% of Americans pay taxes, they are the ones who are too low income to have to pay, so, tell me how a tax cut will help them? You actually have to pay taxes in order to get a tax cut.
So, tell me are you just ignorant or stupid?
This site is aptly named, HOGWASH same as BULLSHIT!
Texas girl, get your facts straight and then come back. Obama clearly says that 95% of WORKING Americans will get a tax cut.
Be careful throwing around “ignorance” without double-checking your own.
listen to yourselves!
want to know the real difference between a pit bull and “that” hockey mom?
well, I’ll clue you in. Papers. Real pit bulls have pedigrees; it is obvious Palin does not.
I agree.. every woman should be able to choose what to do with her uterus.
And along the way, since it is *HER* choice… we can now dismiss men from any financial responsibility.
After all, he did not create a child, he created only a “lump of flesh”. She created a child……
