When did democrats become such elitists? I thought you guys were for the people…the underserved…the common man???? More of us are undereducated than running around with JDs. Degrees and paper don’t make leaders. Character makes leaders. This woman was the governor of a state struggling with huge issues like drilling for oil and environmental protection…she finds out she is pregnant with a child with Down Sydrome…she could have easily opted for an abortion… that’s the type of situations that make leaders.
There is too much much of an emphasis lately on “average people” and their qualifications to lead the free world. What you mentioned about Sarah makes her a good person, maybe, who really knows? But, it does not qualify her to lead a nation of 300,000,000. As a matter of fact, her extreme ignorance represents less than half of them. To be a leader you need demonstrated judgment, critical thinking skills, and the right temperament for the job.
Based on my research, she has the judgment, critical thinking skills, and temperament of a turnip.

She has consistently voted AGAINST environmental protections, has voted FOR more oil drilling and even filed a lawsuit to try and keep Polar Bears from being classified as “endangered” because she was afraid that protection of the bears would interfere with more oil drilling.
She also wants to teach creationism in schools and does not believe that humans have anything to do with global warming. So we know the closest she has ever come to “science” was that Bachelor of Science degree in COMMUNICATIONS (a degree that qualifies you to report the news… not make the news).
But let’s put aside for a moment that we could end up with this woman as President (McCain IS old), let’s talk about John McCain’s impulsive decision to pick this unqualified person as his running mate just because he wanted a “far-right, anti-abortion, creationist female” to satisfy the religious right Republicans and to try and sway the independent women, now that Hillary is gone (does he really give women THAT little credit for brains?).
Let us just talk for a moment about how comfortable we would feel with a President who is THIS impulsive, and this willing to roll the dice on decisions that carry a huge amount of weight and potential for harm.
Let’s think about McCain’s personality… hair trigger temper, poor impulse control, and a willingness to choose a 2nd in command that has NO experience (after bashing Obama for the same). Is this REALLY the person who we want with their finger by the red button?
We are in a complicated world right now. We have huge economic challenges, Russia flexing it’s muscles and, if you can believe the current administration, we are in danger from (take your pick) either Korea, Iran, Russia or China. So do we really want a President that doesn’t know the difference between a Shia and a Sunni, and a Vice President that has no foreign policy experience, or even knowledge?
This woman makes Obama look (as someone said) like an “elder statesmen.” Obama at least had the good sense to choose Biden as his 2nd in command. Like any smart person, he choose a partner that could round out the skill sets needed for the job. A ying to his yang, so to speak.
I’m not sure what McCain was thinking… but if I were his doctor, looking at the temper, poor impulse control, and memory issues… I’d be screening him for the “Big A.”

Does Sarah Pulin have a good jugement? She is a mother of five kids, one pregnant daughter, and a baby with DS and she is applying to e the next vicepresident. WHo is going to be sacrified in this game? her family or the government?
If Abraham Lincoln were a live today, the democrats would try to kill him. You all are for minority rights - except women. Sarah Paulin is what the womans movement was originally about and I am proud she was selected. I am concerned about prior qualifications (I am an attorney) however after learning about Obama’s association with prior US terrorists, his radical pastor he associated with for years, and his millionaire wife who is an ivy league graduate but “wasn’t proud of America” until her husband was recently nominated leaves me so completely doubtful about Obama’s judgment I could NEVER vote for him to act in America’s best interests. While we need to think globally, if we don’t cherish and protect America there will be no leader in democracy and the free world. Much of the democrats diatribe is pompous and elitist. One last thing, if Clinton could lead the free world after messing around with an internet in the oval office and showing such complete and utter disrespect for our country, Ms. Paulin has the right to have a family AND be vice president.
Sarah Paulin received more votes to become Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska than Joe Biden received in the 2008 Democratic Primary.

Biden has experience running a Senate office and Paulin has experience running a home, a city, and a state ? advantage Paulin. Heck, she has more executive experience than Obama, Biden, and Hillary combined.

Biden says he won?t support drilling. Paulin says drill here, drill now. Since our whole economy runs on oil and since no Democrat has presented a workable plan to replace oil in our economy it shows that Biden has his head in the sand, Paulin is watching reality ? advantage Paulin.
Biden is an admitted plagiarist which automatically makes him a liar. Paulin does not have any history of plagiarism and she has not been repeatedly caught in lies like Biden ? advantage Paulin. Even Biden?s hair line is a lie.
Everyone talks about how good Paulin is but a good mother would never use her own son to promote advertisment for her campaing. She is in every magazine with her son, trying to show how good of a mother she is, so we (women) can feel sorry for her, but what we need now is not a “show” but someone that can take control of the mess we are in and take this country out of that mess. We need someone intellengent and McCain’s is surely not fit for the job if he goes to extremes to get publicity for his campaing.
Oh goody, let’s vote for ANOTHER lawyer to go to Washington because they inspire such trust and confidence.

If I was Mrs.Paulin I would stop talking about the eldest son going to Iraq as if that qualifies her to be Commander in Chief. Feel free to research and get back to me on the changing moral code of Christianity over the last 2000 years, but this really is not a site for theological discussion.
As far as I am concerned, there are really only two parts of the bible that a Christian should be concerned with.
Jesus’s sermon on the mount (which the religious right just disregards in their support of the regressive Republican party), and John 3:16.
Most everything else of any consequence can only be considered metaphor, fairy tale, or just plain hogwash.

Americans are so confused it’s not even funny, let see what we have here: Republicans have McCain for president with the experience and track record to do a good job for our country and a VP in Sarah who lacks the “experience” according to most democrats. Then the Democrats have Obama for president with no experience or track record other than voting neutral in most bills up for voting in Illinois with a VP in Biden who’s been around for a long time with a good track record and way more experience than Obama himself.
Let’s see….which position do I rather have inexperience on? The President or the Vice President. Let me tell you, I’m not so confused to figure that one out.

I have some female friends who think that a VP candidate does not require any relevant degrees, just natural leaders. And then they supplement this statement by say that she is qualified since “she was governor of Alaska, has her eldest son going to Iraq, youngest son with down syndrome, etc” which has nothing to do with leadership.
In all her interviews, she looks confused, uninformed, inarticulate and lacking rudimentary knowledge about the country and world, the current problems, etc.
She had a great acceptance speech, but since then it has been a downhill ride and I wonder if Republicans have done themselves more harm by trying to pick on Clinton’s momentum for the primary.
What I don’t like about Sarah Paulin: She has about as much experience in leading this country as Obama. She however is the Vice Presidential Candidate, so hopefully she will have some time to learn on the job. Remember the Vice Presidency is the most meaningless job in politics.
What I like about Sarah Paulin, other than her looks: She is the first ‘regular’ citizen at the presidential level since Harry Truman. She comes from a frontier State, where people live close to Nature. She is a mother, with a family. She is dealing with the same issues my family and friends are dealing with. She does NOT come from a super rich, blue nose, dynastic family. She lives in the real world. What a breath of fresh air. Is she raw, a little unsure of herself, a little unpolished? Yes. How wonderful, to see a regular person with all her untrained, unmanaged uncoached, unrehearsed human honesty. Mark my words, she will become a powerful force in this election.
