What it does is point out some of the many hypocrisies of people who call themselves Christians, but do not even come close to living the type of lives that Christ has called on us to live. There is a major disconnect between the Christian belief and the regressive politics that have a strangle-hold on American culture at this point. Politicians have taken full advantage of the good people of the religious right, appealing to the worse of their nature, only to get them the power they so crave without any benefit to the people who put them in office. What does this have to do with hating Christians?
